UK Immigration likely to curtail domestic workers freedom

Posted on

The decision of the UK immigration authorities to bring about changes to Tier 5 Domestic Workers Visas that was earlier announced by Home Office may lead to increase in domestic abuse and will prove to be a disadvantage to domestic workers who are planning to migrate. This issue is being highly debated by concerned authorities who are favorable towards the rights of the domestic workers.

The earlier proposed change by the UK Home department allowed domestic workers the freedom to change their employer and work for a new employer. Now the UK immigration authorities are trying to bring about changes in the Tier 5 Domestic Worker Visa which would mean that a domestic worker would have to work for about 5 years without any change in employer and not be able to settle there.

Much concern is being expressed by those who favor labor and they hope to influence the decision of the Home Office in case it decides to adopt the view taken by the UK immigration authorities.

It is obvious that there are sections in UK who do support the rights of the domestic workers and are trying to ensure that they are not subjected to any exploitation by their employer.
